The purpose of the Grants Office is to increase funding for the Eastern Shoshone Tribe through coordinated grant writing.

Role of the Grant Office

The Grants Office spearheads proposal writing for the Tribe by applying expertise in grant-seeking and proposal development. Grant Writer services ramge from giving technical assistance and editorial support to staff working on grants. The Grants Office regularly disseminates useful grant information to programs which may choose to apply.

This office is the Tribe's designated clearinghouse for all grants in which the Tribe is an applicant or partner. This avoids uncoordinated approaches to potential funding and optimizes planning among applicants. The Grant Writer is an "Authorized Official Representative" for the purpose of submitting grants electronically.

History

The Grants Office has added more emphasis on technical support for the programs and committees and has provided technical assistance in proposal writing, research, final reporting, write the proposal for the Tribes Title VI Program elderly Nutrition program and various electronic submissions, various Wyoming Arts Council grants submissions, Manangement of the Department of Energy Grant and Library funding for a federal grant, submissions for various facilities, planning with the various Eastern Shoshone cultural committees as well as plans to house all the current and past grants that the tribe has that range from Tribal Health, 477 program, and other BIA programs or grants both state, federal and from other sources.

The Shoshone Business Council has requested via memo to all Directors/Programs/entities that apply for grant on behalf of the Tribe to have copies of grants submitted or finalized given to the Grants Office for filing along with providing copies to Finance.  Future plans are to continue to work with finance and have more technical aspects added to this area for a more extensive grant development for the Tribe’s various tribal program needs.
